Log #1 July 31st, 2001
This is the first entry of many to follow about my adventures in Florida.
I have been here for a full two weeks now, and enjoying 90% of every-
thing so far.  Complaints are few, like the bugs, traffic, and lack of
organization in the local and state government here.  Being from the
Washington, D.C. area all my life until now I have grown accustom to
politics and government relations.  Most people here in the Miami area
have little to no interest in government, and I suspect that leads to less
qualified leaders.

I have not gone on too many adventures as of yet.  Mostly local
excursions to the various parks and recreation areas.  However, this
past weekend I spent time out on the Gulf of Mexico fishing with my
Brother and his wife from Ocala.  I drove up Friday afternoon on the
Florida Turnpike spent Saturday and Sunday fishing and drove back on
Monday.  This was my first time on a boat in the Gulf, though I have
previously swam in the Gulf near Sarasota when visiting my late
Grandfather back in the mid 90's.

That will do if for the first Florida log.  Look for more in the upcoming
weeks.
