Log #11 December 27th, 2001
Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year to everyone. Yes, the logs have
been slow in progression, but there is both little to report, and not much
time to
report on. The main reason for lack of time is I'm still working on
getting
work. I have been unsuccessful architecture wise. Because of
my lack of
proficiency in the AutoCAD software. At my old job I used DataCAD
(which
I think is a much better product than the aforementioned software) and
other
than the few classes I took, I've hardly used AutoCAD. Some firms
have
expressed interest, but without the AutoCAD they won't hire me. So
I have
been trying other things. One of those things was a position as Miami
Beach
(which is seperate of Miami-Dade County) Police Dispatcher. I had to
take a
couple of tests through the Human Resouces Dept. at the Beach, and passed
easily. I had one of the highest computer typing speeds of the applicants.
The
only thing is, the job may not start until mid-January, and I need work now!
I
should know by January 10th if I got the job or not.
One of the main reason I need work quickly is I need to find a place to
live
and have enough money for a deposit and the first months rent. All
this ontop
of my normal montly bills and expenses. This is such a sharp contrast
to what
I was used to in Maryland, living at home, with very little bills, and a
good
steady income.
The second important reason is I have enrolled in college for two classes.
I
need to have enough funds to pay for books, and supplies for that classes,
although, I don't think there will be many with the two classes I picked
(AutoCAD and History of Architecture II-Reinessance to Today). I
cannot
afford not to take classess. Even though I'm paying the out-of-state
rate, I
may be able to get financial aid. That news should come around January
15th.
If I can make it into Mid January, and get into an apartment, I should be
OK.
In January I have a few other money making projects that will supplement
my
income. One of those things is the "project" I've talked about. I did
recieve
news that the next step is ready to be taken, and that should be no problem.
So kinda brings everything to a close for this log. In the next log,
in just a few
days, I will have an update on various activities I've done in the past month
or
more. I'll also be updaing the
Pictures page,
and the Map page,
so check
them now, and see what neat stuff I've been working on in the little spare
time
