Log #10 October 17th, 2001
Yeah it's been a month now since the last update. There really isn't
much to
tell though. The main thing is I'm looking for a new job. The
construction
job didn't work (not enough work/pay). I'm think I'll go back into an
architecture job...more pay...what I love...and more career training. I
still
have a side project I'm working on....but that may be bit more before
that's
something to report on.
This month I've been quite on the ham radio front...with my job search in
full
swing. Once I'm working again, I'll be active again. For a few
of you on the
MARC 146.955 repeater back in Maryland
I hope to be on the repeater more
via the web radio. It's hit and miss with that thing. If I find
something simular
down here I will tell you guys all about it. I did get my Red Cross
certification
for the Intro to Diaster and Mass Care courses. Here again, once I'm
working, I'll take many more of the courses offered. I haven't done
an work
with them yet either.
I did recently go to the Everglades again...for my first Air Boat ride.
Buffalo-
Tiger is the most authentic and less tourists go here. It actually
was my sister's
birthday...and my niece was down from Jacksonville, so the whole gang went
out. I have pictures below of that trip.
On one other old piece of business, Hurricane Michelle was a near miss with
little effects to Florida. I did go out chasing with the
Weathervine Group, but
the highest gust measured while we were out was in the upper 40's (mph).
There was noticable rain bands of low rain and heavy rain (accompanied with
wind) Around 5am most everything had subsided and we headed home.
Next year I will be chasing many hurricanes I'm sure. If I get time
and money,
I'm hoping to go out to the Great Plains again this year in the late spring.
I'm
sure I'll have a willing partner if I decide to go.
I hope the next update will be sooner than a month away. |
