Kenwood TS-830S Transceiver

The TS-830S is a highly sophisticated solid state Amateur band transceiver employing only 3 vacuum tubes (two 6146B's in the final and a 12BY7A driver). This transceiver operates all Amateur HF bands between 1,8 and 29.7 MHz, including the WARC bands (30, 17 and 12 Meters). The transceiver includes: VOX, 25 kHz calibrator, RIT, RF attenuator, and an effective noise blanker. It also includes automatic gain control (AGC), automatic level control (ALC), semi-break-in CW with sidetone, a speech processor, speaker and built-in AC power supply. Power input is 220 watts PEP SSB and 180 watts DC CW. This radio does not have a general coverage receiver.

Comments: This radio belonged to Bud Ports, W5AJS-SK. We believe this radio was his backup rig and was kept at his lake house.

This radio was sold at auction by QCWA Chapter 85.
