Ham Keyer Model HK-5A

The Ham Keyer Model HK-5A is an iambic keyer based on the Curtis 8043/8044 chip. It's an older keyer, but don't sell it short. It has several features not found on modern keyers. For example, it has speed, weight, side tone and volume adjustments on the front panel. No programming or paging through manuals looking for a command. It has an on/off switch (to conserve batteries) and a "tune" position on the front panel to key your rig. Two other nice features are shown on the back panel (see below). This keyer can key rigs that key direct or using grid block keying. And finally, another feature not often found on a keyer these days is the ability to attach both a paddle AND your hand-key or bug at the same time. The keyer is powered by 4 internally mounted size C batteries or by an external power source (6V).

This keyer was donated to QCWA Chapter 85 and sold at auction.
