starting at Dodger Stadium and finishing on the Avenue of the
Stars in Century City
- Amateurs staff the water stations,
medical aid stations, the start and finish lines,
and the Incident Command Post.

Great California Shakeout
- Operated from both the Lomita Station and from the
Little Company of Mary Torrance Radio Room
- We learned a lot, including about a new group using
our TAC-3 simplex frequency on high power from 3,000 feet up in the San
Gabriel Mountains without using Tone Squelch.
- We were able to cross link K6RH 440 with TAC-3
simplex during the final hour on Thursday.
- We also exchanged NBEMS traffic with the cities of
Manhattan Beach, Torrance, and Rolling Hills Estates.

PV Pennisula Unified School District
220 MHz Disaster Radio Inspections
- Our inspections of all disaster ham radio equipment
at the 23 Palos Verdes schools.
- All was found in order, except for a few small
components
missing at three school sites. Teacher and staff retirements
unfortunately resulted in no licensed operators at four schools.

landing sites on Recall Election Night
- Operating at Torrance were Bob, T-22; Gary, T-222;
Cindy, T-223, Jeff, T-230 and Diana, Staff 60
- Kiran, Y-107, operated at Santa Monica Airport with
two West Hollywood DCS members.

SCC TK-290 Distribution & Reprogramming
- LASD Kenwood TK-290 handheld radios
received a
programming update
- New batteries for your TK-290 were
available if needed
- Kenwood TK-290 radios were issued to
those requesting one
- Interim DCS badges for newer members were issued
- DCS
uniform items (short-sleeve shirts, jackets, and hats) were available
for pickup only to those who submitted uniform order forms
- DCS Challenge Coins ordered were
available for pick-up

- Thank you to everyone who participated in Saturday's
DCS Spring Communication Exercise
- Most seemed to learn something new about their
radios, operating on VHF simplex, and/or operating on 10-meter/6-meter

better and to provide additional operating knowledge for all members.
