Torrance Landing Zone
No reports of problems with ballot bags that went through (or should have gone through) Torrance. It's our small part for ensuring integrity of the balloting process as ballots get transported to their final destination.

Countywide OA Functional Exercise
  • OEM and LASD Functional Exercise involving the 88 cities in LA County. 
  • A Functional Exercise involves key decision makers, the local Emergency Operations Center, and representatives from response and support organizations. Field response units are not normally activated and deployed. Controllers and simulators initiate exercise events, and represent external organizations pertinent to the exercise scenario
  • District 17 handled 3 Sheriff Stations; LMT, SLA & CEN
  • Earthquake scenario with all conventional means of communication being inoperable.  
  • Duration 0800 to 1500 hours
  • Graded on the accuracy of the messages sent and received.

  • Labor Day run across the Vincent Thomas Bridge.  At 1500 feet long it is the 4th longest suspension bridge in California.

- Other Hours
  • T-01, T-03, T-25, T-88, T-219, and former DCS Staff 66 comprise six of the 11 DXpedition team members who altogether will be bringing over 1,000 pounds of gear.  
  • Activity was on 160, 80, 40, 20, 17, 15, 12, 10, and 6 meter bands in additional to 2-meter FM satellite and 2-meter SSB grid square hunting.
