**Illinois Public Act 98-0506 takes effect in 1 January 2014.
The Act states that a person may not operate a motor vehicle on a
roadway while using an electronic communication device (as defined in
the Act). Amateur Radio has a newly passed and specific exemption for using our
equipment only. We are still required to use hands-free means to make
cellular calls, just like everyone else.
