Here are some views of Treasure Island and the area circa 1969.
A view of San Francisco from the shack at sunrise. Coit Tower is visible but notice the lack of tall buildings downtown. Construction of the Transamerica Pyramid was started not long after this was taken.
From the top of the tower, a look across the island at the eastern span of the Oakland Bay Bridge. The star shaped 'new' barracks buildings are visible in the center and to the right. On the left edge at center is the Pacific Basin Fountain with the Pacific Unity sculptures. These were, at that time, some of the few remaining artifacts of the 1939-1940 Golden Gate International Exposition. I used to walk past the fountain every day (before I brought my car down) on the way to the shack.
Looking east across the island. The Navy Exchange is at the far edge of the island.
Looking south to Yerba Buena Island. The Oakland Bay Bridge is visible on either side. This is a good view of the main road onto the island and puts the location of the ham shack into context.
