The Tower

When I arrived on the island (February 1969), this extra heavy duty 110 foot tower was already installed at the station but it didn't have any antennas on it. It was originally intended for a large log periodic antenna and had a super heavy duty rotator. We left the LPA on the ground but kept the rotator and installed two beams, a full spaced four element monobander for 20 meters and a three element duobander for 15 and 10. As you can see in the photos, there were also two ground plane antennas on the tower, one for six and one for two meters.

The duobander

The 15-10 meter duobander has been installed at this point.

Beams through binoculars

A shot of the top of the tower with both beams in place. I didn't have a telephoto lens, so this was taken through one eyepiece of a pair of binoculars.
