The wild scenery at my first ever October "Rockwork 2" DXpedition. Excellent hauls of Alaskan and Australian beacons on LW and a split personality on MW.

The MW results are being compiled as my logs of the Grayland DXpedition 2021 from 2 weeks earlier are complete. My general impression was that the conditions here were somewhat mediocre on the northern path, and with fewer DU stations than a typical August cliffside DXpedition (as one would expect in October). There was still plenty of DU action though. The high band seemed lacking in strength and stations. TM 1630 not heard. Results will be posted below.

Comments and highlights of the Oct 2021 LW Results
Three mornings at the Rockwork 2 location made for some unexpected NDB results. The northern path openings for Asian NDBs such as from China or Taiwan did not happen for us but the Australians were unusally robust for October. There was some decent enhancement to Alaska resulting in 38 stations, excellent considering the number of decoms and unserviceable NOTAMS there lately, and featuring north of Arctic Circle reception for 4 stations. A few stations such as 305 PEE had never been reported from Oregon. (By the way, I visited this very beacon in 2021 and pictures are HERE). At the same time and dominating at times were the Australians. 26 NDBs heard was truly excellent considering this number has only been surpassed once before in 9 trips to these cliffs, and with many frequencies blocked by Canadian beacons this time. It is the first time I have heard six Australian states at one DXpedition. 407 GDH is a "first" ever reported for North America. Other Pacifics were down somewhat from what we hear in August, except the very long distance beacons (10000 km plus) were actually better in October resulting in first time catches such as 318 BR Brunei and the return of 371 ROR Palau. French Polynesia was poor as was NZL and the MW beacon 1630 TM was not heard this time.

Dell "2 in 1" 11.6-inch netbook (Win 10) 2.0 TB internal SSD.
Wellbrook FLG-100LN broadband amplifier modules (Used throughout DXpedition)
60 feet (18.3 meters) of #18 multi stranded copper wire, jacketed (Deployed as a rear-fed flag)
16 and 20 foot segmented fiberglass "Wonderpoles" and weighted (with concrete) tip-resistant stands
4 X tarp clips that clip onto the poles as wire guides; waterproof
Thick plastic wrap and zip ties to mount, protect the active antenna module in rain; Needed and used Aug 06.
50 feet RG8X coax with BNC connectors
35AH solar rechargeable battery box provides cliffside power for SDRs, active antennas
Backup equipment (not needed) included MSI Wind Netbook w/ 500 GB SSD, Wellbrook ALA100M modules
Drone: Yuneec Q500 Typhoon 4K (Available but not flown off the cliffs in 2021)
