ARES Training
The ARES mission, in my opinion, is changing; it used to be that one could pretty much stay at home (or a single set up in the field) and just talk. I think that more and more, our served agencies will be asking us to be able to participate with them in a response. We need to be able to answer that call. The shape of that answer, of course, depends upon the needs of the agencies served. As for CO/D6, our mission lies primarily as a mutual aid organization to D23, and that with respect to wildland fire. Foremost, in my opinion, in an extra-ARES training should be ICS: the Incident Command System. ICS is a methodology for organizing a response to an incident of any size. The structure of the reponse is generated from the bottom up, so it can be as flexible as warranted. It was created by FEMA. |
