PDA: Pilot-DBPilot-DB is, like progect, an Open Source project; the web page for pilot-db is http://pilot-db.sourceforge.net/ and the Source Forge project page resides here DB is a rather nice little database package, and while it doesn't (yet) support things like linking of records, and time/date calculations, it is quite functional. I use DB, among other things, to hold detailed information on each of the D6 members; as much information as I can get. Well, OK, just ARES-pertinent things, not things like height, weight, credit card numbers, etc. But certainly things like whether or not one is APRS-capable, whether or not one can run cross-band repeat, license class, whether or not one is HF-mobile capable, etc. This allows me to be able to perform searches on those criteria; moreover, since I pretty much always have my PDA with me, if something comes up suddenly, then I still have all the data at my fingertips. DB integrates nicely with progect via Linkmaster; with DB I can publish links to individual records, and use those links in progect, so that when I am in progect, and I open a list item which is linked to DB, then I can tap the little pin icon on the right, and it takes me to the corresponding entry in DB. It's pretty cool. |
