To know what the real-time band conditions are, you may use a variety of methods as follows:

  1. Track actual band activity using DX Clusters;
  2. Listen on the HF bands, using: your receiver, a remote WebSDR, KiwiSDR. Focus on beacons;
  3. Examine online regional MUF maps-charts;
  4. Use a tool / application to estimate the current ionospheric conditions based on data collected from recent solar activity, space weather reports, and remote sensing of the ionosphere and its regions. Examples:

  1. Current Ham Activity
    DXview
  2. Recent HF Bands Conditions
    Animated 3000km
  3. Predicted HF Bands Conditions

Recent R-S-G reports

Recent solar flares | Space weather reports

Utilize more than one option to gain a comprehensive understanding of propagation conditions, as no single method can provide all the necessary information.

The project "Understanding HF Propagation" provides a detailed overview and tutorials on HF propagation.
