MODULE II - OPERATING PROCEDURES
Basically, all hams are communicators. It is not uncommon for a ham to ragchew or to engage in a prolonged QSO ("kitkit") for it is one way of enjoying the hobby by meeting new friends on the air. Ragchewing does not only foster a stronger fellowship among members and fellow hams, but it also enhances friendship with non-hams while building a network of contacts. 1. Observe the correct procedures in radio operation (See the preceding chapters in this Tutorials). 2. Always stay within the amateur band but avoid the calling frequency of other clubs for your QSO. 3. Be friendly even when non-hams break into the ragchew. Use the opportunity to meet new friends and to introduce, orient and familiarize them about amateur radio. 4. Transmit within the power enough to go on with your QSO to avoid creating "splatters" to other frequencies. 5. In the course of the ragchew, the use of first names is encouraged especially when meeting new friends to create an atmosphere of informality and familiarity. |
