MODULE II - OPERATING PROCEDURES
I. THE SINGLE BREAK. "BREAK" is used ordinarily to join into an ongoing QSO. To break into an ongoing QSO, the world "BREAK" is used/transmitted in between the transmissions of the stations on QSO or during "pauses" of the QSO. This avoids stepping on the signal of any station. It is recommended, however, to break in with your call sign if the "pause" is long enough, to save time since the other stations no longer need to call for a QRZ. Never use the "Break" to check in during the net or to call any station (CQ) or a particular station (direct contact). II. THE DOUBLE BREAK. "BREAK, BREAK" is used when there is urgency or a priority traffic/message that has to be pushed through because of time constraint or because of its importance. This may be used during an ongoing QSO. III. THE TRIPLE BREAK. "BREAK, BREAK, BREAK" is used for extreme emergencies, or a matter of life and death situation. When a triple break is heard, all stations must standby and be ready to give assistance. This may be used during an ongoing QSO or during the Net. (See also "Responding To Emergency Calls") |   |
