I myself enjoy "casual contesting" at the present time. Some of my favorite contests are the Michigan QSO Party, Field Day, and the CQ World Wide Contest. I also like to operate during many of the various state QSO parties to gain more counties and to return the favor to others by supporting their respective states' QSO party.

I think contesting is a good way to have fun by being competitive, learn about propagation from the widespread activity, education & practice on passing messages quickly & accurately, and to learn more about how to control your radio & equipment functions.
