Hobart is the capital city of Tasmania and is located in the southern section of the island, overlooked by Mt. Wellington. In the early days of the colonisation of Australia, Tasmania or "Van Diemens land" was used
as a penal colony by the British. Conditions were extremely harsh. Port Arthur to the south of Hobart was the main prison. Due to the harsh and remote environment, escape was nearly impossible. Tasmania is now a
major generator of Hydro Electricity and is renown for it's wilderness areas and the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race.
Nan & I have only been to Tasmania the once. That was back in 1987 to visit some friends
and have dinner at "Muirs" restaurant at Constitution Dock. That was in the days of Nan's employment with Australian Airlines, now Qantas.
