SY5DPI - Dodecanese Rhodes Island - EU001 - 2007

April of 2007. It was near Easter. We made plans to go to Rhodes for holidays. I asked the special call for some radio activity as usual. After some days we changed our plans but... Some days after the Easter we had a strong earthquake in my area. My family was scared so reactivate our initial plan to go in Rhodes island... Unfortunately because of the changes again and again I didn't take any radio amteur equipment with me as it was a last minute decision...
In Rhodes, I met an old friend: Mike SV5BYR. Mike drove me to local club SV5RDS and I had the chance to operate from the club for an hour. Club has a yagi antenna and an hf rig with power 100w. I made about 100 qsos most on ssb. So I activated finally the special call. I want to return once day to make more QSOs...
