Welcome
to my page.
My name is David and my call is KG4BIN. I really enjoy The Amateur Radio service. Note I said service, as in no official FCC document, is Amateur Radio referred to as a hobby. This thinking is foreign to many Hams, who seem to consider it so. Many seem to have the "since I passed the test, I've paid my dues" Attitude. If you enjoy being a Ham, get involved in local activities. Do something to raise the awareness of the public, to the role Amateur Radio plays in public safety and participate in programs to interest people in becoming new Hams. When I first became a ham, a lot of people went out of their way to help and make me welcome. I was lucky to have had so many willing people to put up with my blundering and to help with technical stuff, that I knew nothing about. It only seems fair, for me to try to return the favor. There are so many different facets of Amateur Radio, almost anyone, can find something of interest. With all the new digital modes becoming popular to add to the older more established forms of communication, it's a great time to be a Ham. Check out

The only problem is, that we are all getting older. If we don't active pursue newer younger members, Soon we won't have the support we need to function effectively. We will loose out spectrum and our local repeaters and then some of the Old Timers, who can vaguely remember the old Hams, will lament about how the internet killed it off. If Amateur Radio dies, it won't be the internet's fault but our own. It's up to each of us to prevent this from happening. A service is suppose to serve. Enjoy, but give something back. |
