 Receiving

The good reception of SSTV is easier on some Bands that others.Slowscan is a fairly Wide mode and it requires a clean strong signal with as little QRM and QSB as is possible for best results.

Therefore transmisssions with adequate power and  separation frequency wise from other stations whether they are on sstv or simply Phone chatters will help enormously.

Filters in receivers do not always manage to leave enough signal bandwidth for good results although DSP does help get rid of close in interference at times . Some folk use Noise Phasers (QRM eliminators ) but these are expensive and do not always give good reception. Of course on VHF and using FM especially most of the above simply doesnt happen. It all down to where Your interest lies I guess I enjoy 80 metres as its always a challenge getting good pictures <grin>

The 20 metre band does often give good strong signals with the obvious DXer in mind BUT it seems many Stations do not listen or receive they just switch on and transmit

This is NOT the way to operate SSTV even if You like me have a Linear !!

It is helpful to all to only operate SSTV in the sstv

section of the bands and similarly its nice for ssb only stations to avoid sstv stations then we can ALL enjoy our preference and SSTVers dont need to run so much power either ! There is room for us all so lets be considerate PLEASE Gents .
