The manipulation of pictures is often a requirement for SSTV. |

There are many choices of software which allow you to do this . |

My personal favourite is the old standard Paint Shop Pro although this one does take some practice to get used to . It allows you to convert pictures from almost any mode to your chosen one . |

These days most of the current SSTV programs use pictures in Jpeg format although some still ask for gif pictures . Jpeg is much to be preferred as it allows much better quality pictures in my opinion. Pictures often need to be sized to suit the software and this avoids the picture finishing before the SSTV background frame has done so and saves some of the more advanced SSTV software�s resizing and changing the pictures aspect ratios causing distortions. |
