Brian,

For a classic board to backplane connector, why don't you consider the IEC
61076-4-101? There are at least nine vendors so the price is right. It is
good easily to 500 MHz. Although it is thru-hole-pressfit, it has fairly
small vias .55 to .65 mm. There are multiple SPICE models available for
design analysis.

It has the best step height between pin levels ( 1.5 mm) so you can have
real sequenced insertion (some other types of board to backpane connectors
have only .5 mm or .75 mm which may not be adequate in many applications.

It is available in more versions: cables, vertical females, stamped power
versions, all sorts of sizes any loading you might want etc....

You can go to www.erni.com and download a 140 page catalog. It has a lot
of design details and layout suggestions.
