The Tower Arrives!

The tower arrives - this thing is HUGE!

My wife was already scoring points - she helped the truck driver unload it.

I purchased a bunch of rebar to build the cage per the specs. After consulting with TowerTalkians, I used the best method to bend it - two large 20' pieces of black pipe I had on hand. One was on the ground wedged between two tires of my truck with 1/2 of the rebar sticking out of it. The other went over the exposed rebar, leaving about 2" open as I walked it around 90 degrees. Worked like a charm! A new hacksaw blade helped to make the needed cuts as well.

I went to the office of permits. The 'Real' grantor of permits was on vacation all of August and the inspector who ok-ed my application apparently didn't have that authority. He said I need an engineer's stamp on the tower foundation plan!

It turns out that Trylon supplies all the calculations but does not get stamps from each of the states, so I'm on my own. A friend in the area just got his PE certification.

My 'PE' friend examines the plans and anoints them! That was a nice lunch...
