A snafu with the Building Inspector and a broken backhoe mean some rescheduling is needed. The hole was dug in the evening. I asked the operator to help me get the bottom tower section assembly over to the hole, so he chained it to his front-loader and carried it right over. From the time he showed up, changed his bucket to a 3' wide model, dug the hole, smoothed the dirt, and carried the base tower section to the hole, less than an hour has passed costing me around $60! VERY reasonable.

There are no inspections over the weekend, so I've rescheduled that for Monday, and the cement guys come Tuesday. Kind of disappointing, but at least it removes the rush on getting the cage and frame set.

As it turned out, this was really a huge blessing in disguise. There is NO WAY I could have been ready for the inspector the same day! After the backhoe left, I spent almost two hours in the bottom of the hole digging out the bell-shape that Trylon’s spec calls for. Pretty tough work. I think if it were to do this again I'd ask the backhoe to sort of wiggle the teeth of the bucket along the bottom of the hole a bit to loosen it up.
