Curiosidades sobre Astronomia
A cada hora, o
universo se expande 1,6 bilhões de quilômetros (um bilhão de quilômetros em
cada direção).
Há
alguns cientistas afirmando que parte da interferência na sua TV se deve as
ondas do Big Bang quando foi gerado o Universo.
Planetas, constelações e galáxias formam apenas 4% do universo. O resto é
feito de matéria escura, um tipo estranho de matéria sobre a qual os
cientistas sabem muito pouco.
A nossa
galáxia, chamada Via Láctea, tem cerca de 200 bilhões de estrelas, embora
alguns astrônomos acreditem que sejam bem mais do que isso.
A
galáxia mais próxima da Via Láctea é Andrômeda, também chamada de M31,
localizada a dois milhões de anos-luz de distância.
A Via
Láctea e a galáxia de Andrômeda fazem parte do mesmo aglomerado galáctico, o
Grupo Local, com 30 membros. Segundo os astrônomos, Via Láctea e Andrômeda,
no futuro, se chocarão formando uma só galáxia. Vale lembrar que viajam pelo
espaço na direção do aglomerado de Virgem, formado por centenas de outras
galáxias.
As constelações mais conhecidas no Brasil
são a do Cruzeiro do Sul e Órion. A constelação de Órion é, em parte,
formada por 3 estrelas alinhadas denominadas As Três Marias. Para os gregos
antigos, elas representavam o Cinturão de Órion.
A luz que vem do sol demora cerca de 8
minutos para chegar a Terra. Pode parecer estranho, mas a luz de muitas
estrelas levam milhares de anos para chegar até aqui. Se uma estrela que
fica a 15.000 mil ano-luz explodir nesse momento, o evento somente será
visto da Terra daqui a 15.000 mil anos.
A terra gira a 1.600 km/h, mas viaja em sua
órbita ao redor do sol a mais de 107.000 km/h.
Lembre-se que a Terra não é exatamente uma
esfera.
O peso da Terra é de
5.980.000.000.000.000.000.000 toneladas.
A Lua se afasta da Terra a uma velocidade de
1 a 3 centímetros por ano. Em cada século se afasta três metros.
O Sol é 330.000 vezes maior que a Terra.
Aliás, você sabia que o Sol possui 99,9% de toda a matéria do nosso Sistema
Solar?
Júpiter é duas vezes maior do que todos os
outros planetas, satélites, asteróides e cometas do Sistema Solar juntos.
O planeta do
Sistema Solar com o maior número de luas é Júpiter, ele tem 63 luas.
O
segundo lugar fica com Saturno, com 34 luas.
Existem cinco planetas-anões no nosso
Sistema Solar: Ceres, Plutão, Haumea, Makemake e Éris. Alguns cientistas, no
entanto, suspeitam que esse número seja bem maior.
A temperatura da Lua pode chegar a 100º C
durante o dia lunar e -175º C à noite.
A estrela mais luminosa da Via Láctea é Eta
Carinae, que emite cinco milhões de vezes mais energia que o Sol.
Já a estrela mais brilhante descoberta pelo
ser humano é a supernova SN1987A, da galáxia Grande Nuvem de Magalhães. Sua
luminosidade é maior do que a da sua própria galáxia.
A constelação do Cruzeiro do Sul é formada
por 54 estrelas; porém, somente cinco são visíveis a olho nú.
Os cientistas não sabem precisar quantas
galáxias existem no Universo, mas calculam que seja algo em torno de 100
bilhões. O número de estrelas varia de galáxia para galáxia, ficando entre
100 bilhões e três trihões de astros.
Existem vários sistemas de identificação de
astros. Os mais usados são o sistema Messier (M) e o Novo Catálogo Geral de
Nebulosas e Aglomerados de Estrelas (NGC). Muitas galáxias são identificadas
pelo dois sistemas. Um exemplo é Andrômeda, que é identificada como M 31 e
NGC 224.
Galáxias são sistemas formados por poeira,
gases e estrelas unidas por sua própria gravidade. Existem diversos tipos de
galáxias: espirais (como a Via Láctea), elípticas, barradas e irregulares.
Nebulosas são corpos celestes formados por
gases e poeira, nas quais nascem as estrelas. Ganhou esse nome por serem
parecidas com nuvens. As nebulosas mais conhecidas são a de Água, Órion,
Bumerangue, Olho de Gato e Tarântula.
Estrelas de nêutrons são corpos
supercompactos, ultra massivos, que giram muito rápido e possuem gravidade
extremamente alta. São formadas quando estrelas com massa oito vezes maior
que a do Sol esgota sua energia nuclear.
Anã branca é a fase final de uma estrela,
depois que ela desprendeu suas camadas externas, restando apenas o núcleo.
São corpos pequenos, com matéria densa e quente, além de brilho intenso.
Buracos negros são estrelas pesadas, que
entraram em colapso. Sua gravidade é tão intensa que afeta o espaço em volta
e atrai a própria luz.
Quasares (quasar é uma abreviação de “quase
estelar”) são buracos negros gigantes no centro das galáxias. São fortes
emissores de luz e ondas de rádio. Esse tipo de corpo celeste gira muito
rapidamente. Os astrônomos acreditam que são alguns dos objetos mais antigos
e distantes do Universo.
O maior vulcão conhecido situa-se em Marte,
o Monte Olimpo, 3 vezes mais alto que o nosso Monte Evereste;
As estrelas anãs são tão densas, que um dado
feito desse material pesaria tanto como um carro;
Todos os anos caem cerca de 150 toneladas de
meteoritos e fragmentos na Terra. Trata-se de uma média de 410kg por dia;
As estrelas não cintilam. O que vemos, é a
interferência da atmosfera terrestre na luz que chega até nós;
O impacto da alunagem da Apollo 12 fez com
que a superfície lunar vibrasse durante 55 minutos;
O primeiro pé a
pousar na Lua (de Neil Armstrong) calçava o número 41;
