The 2002 IARU HF Championship contest was a multi/single effort by AD5CA and me. We really made an effort to work this one but we ended up just casually doing the test. We work some new DXCC in this one as well. We used Mark's call in this one. Propagation was not so good as it is the middle of summer. But it was not as bad as it could have been. We mostly worked 10, 15 and 20 meters. This contest ran in conjunction with the World Radiosport Team Championship in Finland. The guys in that contest used calls starting with OJ. We worked about 20 or of these. Follow this link for more on the WRTC follow the link bellow. We did manage to work W1AW/5 on 5 bands missing only 160 meters due to no antenna for that band. We did try however putting extra wire on the 80 meter flat top. The 160 meter station heard us but could not pull out our signal due to the noise from the storms in the central Texas area. During the IARU the ARRL allows contest clubs from the 10 call districts to host the HQ station, rotating it among the districts every year. This year the Central Texas DX and Contest Club in Austin Texas area was the host. The guys of CTDXCC did an outstanding job. More on their effort cam be found with the link below. Equipment used for this contest was: Icom 746, Dentron MLA2500, Dentron MT3000A, Mosely TA-33, A99 10 meter vertical, 40 meter inverted V and 80 meter flat top.
