This was a fantastic contest. I had a great time in this one. I worked this one from the house using the 10 meter vertical. Conditions where excellent for this time in the solar cycle. I worked lots of EU and LOTS of US. The JA run was not what I was expecting, very light, plus I had an S9 noise level at sun down that prevented me from doing any contesting after dark. This noise is the reason my score was not higher. I could not get the JA run nor any other Asia or Oceania due to this. Did manage to work and couple of strong VKs, ZLs, JAs and 1 DU but missed allot! Also missed the Es opening on Friday and Saturday night that might have gotten me a few more Qs. The noise is gone now (1-9-03), must have been some sort of evil Christmas decoration in the neighborhood. From what I have been told I made a great score for the limited station I have. My goal was to at least beat last years 2nd place LP phone score in STX. I beat it by about 50K. I don't think I could have the first place from last year. W5AJ had 1352 Qs, 120 mults and 322800 points. He has big beams and I did not think I could realistically compete with him. According to the 3830 reflector I have the 15th best W/VE score, but not everyone sends their claimed score to that reflector. :-) Placed 3rd in the West Gulf Division Equipment used: Yaesu MKV FT-1000MP and A99 N1MM Logger Score: 605 QSOs 116 Mults 140360 Points My Best Rates: 2002-12-14 19:14 - 4.0 per minute (1 minute(s)), 240 per hour by KC5YKX 2002-12-14 19:15 - 2.3 per minute (10 minute(s)), 138 per hour by KC5YKX 2002-12-14 19:52 - 1.6 per minute (60 minute(s)), 95 per hour by KC5YKX My Best Runs: 2002-12-14 18:59 - 20:18, 28685 kHz, 107 Qs, 82.0/hr 2002-12-14 23:07 - 23:53, 28471 kHz, 60 Qs, 78.8/hr 2002-12-15 21:50 - 22:11, 28547 kHz, 25 Qs, 69.1/hr 2002-12-15 23:22 - 23:46, 28348 kHz, 19 Qs, 46.8/hr
