The main IARMS trasmitting site is located in central Italy in a small ancient town
- Martinsicuro - along the Adriatic coast in Latitude
42° 53' North and Longitude 013° 55'East. Martinsicuro
is a very old fishing center and untill 1980 a
large part of local population worked on board big fishing
vessels busy in fishing campaigns in all the seas of
the world.The maritime culture is a very important part
of the inhabitants of this town and many of them have
studied in Nautical Colleges to become Captains and
Merchant Marine Officers of Deck and Engine Departements.
Nowadays people continue to work at sea but mainly in
coastal fishing or on board merchant ships. To respect
the maritime culture of this zone in the year 2000 the IARMS
started the operation with daily weather reports and
routeing service for sailing vessels and yachting
communities.
The main radio station is composed
of some amateur radio equipments for HF bands.
The transceivers mainly used to operate the Net are
a YAESU FT-920 and a KENWOOD TS-950 SDX, both have the
possibility to run an U.S. amplifier made by QRO TECHONOLOGIES
for a power of 500 Watts (Italian legal power). The
IARMS radio station includes some receivers for
Maritime Bands monitoring.
