The following images show observations of the Sun made just before, and the day after, the partial solar eclipse visible in Arizona on July 11, 1991. The observations were made with the NRAO 12 Meter Telescope at Kitt Peak, Arizona, at a frequency of 90 GHz, or a wavelength of 3.3 mm. The pictures were built up point-by-point, until the telescope's 65" (0.018 degree) beam had measured the emission at every point of the Sun's surface and its surroundings. The observations were made by Phil Jewell and Darrel Emerson, of the NRAO.
