An image of the Sun at a wavelength of 3 mm, observed with the NRAO 12 Meter Telescope at Kitt Peak, AZ on July 11 1991. This image has been enhanced to show more clearly the structure of emission within the solar disk. This structure arises from the enhanced temperature of solar active regions, regions of enhanced magnetic activity. A similar image obtained the following day shows very similar structure, displaced a little because of the solar rotation.
