YR 2003

The first event was the Penang state CNY open house at the heritage enclave of Armenian Street, Ah Quee Street and Cannon Street on Sunday 9th February 2003. Picture.
The next even for the club was the pot luck gathering at the clubroom on Friday 14-02-2003. A wide variety of food and drinks were contributed by memebrs and shared by family and friends at the evening function. Among the food and drinks were fried chicken, sandwiches, ice-cream, CNY delicacies, special chicken curry with bread, biscuits, and etc. The members together with their families and friends tucked into the food and drinks, in a friendly and cordial atmosphere. When it came to the end of the function, everybody helped to clean up the food and also the clubroom.
The club AGM was held on Friday 21st February 2003. There was a dinner for members at the 747 Restaurant before the AGM. At the AGM most of the 2002 committee members were re-elected. However Gary Lim stepped down from his position as Property Manager and Mr EJ Lim (9W2DX) replaced him. PC Law was elected as the Internal Auditor.
A farewell dinner for a member, KC Aw (9W2PA) who is going to New Zealand was held on Friday 2nd May 2003 at TeoChew Restaurant.

YR 2002

1.      7 hams (9M2CL, 9M2WP, 9W2PA, 9W2DX, 9W2DW, 9W2KB and 9W2YY) voluntered to provide communication support to General College's family day on 27th Jan 2002.  picture1, picture2

2.      15 hams help out with the games stall during the YMCA Food fair held on 2/3/2002.  Thank you very much.

3.      Mr Andrew Wadsworth (PhD) of W9ADS gave the club members a presentation on iLink on 8th March 2002 at the club room.  About 20 hams attended his presentation which is very informative.  Thank you Andrew!!!

4.      YMCA field day from 15th to 17th March 2002 at Penang Hill.  It has been a wonderful one with many HF QSO via SSB and CW (close to 100 stations contacted) and also VHF QSO via 9M2RUK in Ulu Kali. 

5.      For many years and this year included, our members provided radio communication service at the Penang International Bridge Run 2002. The event was held on 2nd June 2002. 9M2YMC, the Amateur Radio Club of YMCA played a major role and some 14 ARC members voluntereed their services. Click here for pictures

6.      The club was requested by Motorola to set up an exhibition and demonstrate ham radio equipment at their Family Day held at the Pesta site on Saturday 24th August 2002. Click here for picture

7.      Bungalow stay at Penang Hill - Members, family and friends enjoyed the nice cool atmosphere staying at Fern Hill from 16th August 2002 for 2 nights.

8.      YMCA ARC members attended YMCA 43rd Anniversary Dinner and Dance at Berjaya, Georgetown Hotel on 28/9/2002.  One table is allocated for the YMCA ARC members.

YR 2001

  1. 9M2YMC involvement in Penang International Bridge Run on 03/06/2001
  2. 9M2YMC participated in Radio Seremban Open Day on 29/6/2001 till 1/7/2001. YAB Mentri Besar of Negeri Sembilan making QSO with 9M2YMC from 9M2MRC
  3. Participated in the IARU HF World Championship on 14th to 15th July 2001, Station set-up Yaesu FT-100 (100W) with MFJ tuner and inverted dipole, Participating members
  4. Mr. Malcolm Westwood visit to 9M2YMC. Mr M.Westwood is in the centre sitting.
  5. 9M2YMC provides communication link during the National Day Charity Mountain Bike Race 26/8/2001
  6. Motorola Walk Hunt on 2nd September 2001. 
  7. The Yr 2001 MARTS Field Day in Penang was held at Penang YMCA and was coordinated by YMCA ARC (9M2YMC) on 13th and 14th October 2001.   Click here for pictures gallery.   NST 5/11/2001 clipping
  8. 9M2YMC ARC field day in conjunction with 44th World Scout JOTA was held on 19th, 20th and 21st October. Venue: Penang Hill, Woodside Bungalow. 
  9. 9M2YMC up at Penang hill again on 1/12/2001 till 2/12/2001.  HF DX'ing condition is poor with less than 20 QSO with DX stations.  Antennae used were 40m hamstick and long wire with MFJ tuner for other bands.  Rigs used were FT-100 for HF and FT-2600 for 2m.  About 10 members stayed overnight in the bungalow.  Picture
  10. SWLs gave the 9M2YMC RAE instructors an appreciation dinner at the YMCA 747 Restaurant on 22/12/2001 for conducting RAE revision classes. picture
