Nine (9) members from YMCA ARC contribute their time and energy in providing communication assistance during the Mountain Bike race. There are one base station and five(5) communication stations along the race route. The aim is to provide communication along the route which includes status report of the race and casualties report to Red Cresent personnel for first aid assistance. The race covers a continuous uphill route of 4.5km. There are three(3) categories, i.e. junior men (20 - 29 yrs), senior men (30 - 39 yrs) and veteran (40yrs +). This race is part of the fund raising for the "Pertubuhan Hemodialysis S.P.S."
It was raining heavily in the morning but luckily it stops just before the race starts. Overall, it has been a very fruitful event and it would not gone so well without all the communication links provided by the hams.
Lets give thems a big applause and hope this will interest more youngster to take up this hobby (radio amateur) in the near future.
