Yes, the +/- 0.1 inch is correct, and, in my opinion, quite reasonable.

If the spec says the length must be 2.5 in +/- 0.1 in, then yes, you need to
guarantee a length in that range for each design, whether you do it manually
or the tools do it for you. (How many designs do you have?) It should be a
simple thing to check. Most routing tools let you do it quickly.
