Vinu:

Yes. As part of the original HP high-speed digital design symposium series
circa 1990 I designed, constructed, and demonstrated a printed circuit board
that had several 50 ohm transmission line configurations with both open ended
and matched terminations. I included simple microstrip, coupled microstrips,
stripline, and guarded configurations. I performed near- and far-field
radiated and crosstalk measurements and compared the various configurations.

The primary goal of the investigation was to demonstrate the superiority of
burying hot traces or else guarding any mandatory surface traces to limit the
level of their emissions. Guarding provided 6 to 8 dB of improvement over
unguarded traces, whether terminated or not. Termination reduced emissions 3
to 6 dB over non-terminated lines.
