The Years of Revitalization

POINTS OF INTEREST AND CLUB ACTIVITIES

The following is a continuation of SARC history for the years of 1989 through 1993. It contains points of interest extracted from the Secretary's meeting minutes after Doug's tenure as Secretary. I would like to thank May WA1EHK and Bob Blakley and Ray WD1X for assisting me with their recollections and in the data sorting of the meeting notes, plus the addition of important (human) details.

Al Thorpe, K1TMW, President; Doug Waterhouse, KB1SS, Secretary; Tony Vena, K1BUI, Comm. Officer and Al took custody of our call sign W1ORS, as "Trustee."

Our present (big) tower, tri-band antenna and rotator were acquired (but not installed) from the estate of George Grossner, W1ASO during the Summer. The club participated in; Field Day, VHF and the December 10 meter contests. A new long wire was installed.

Al, K1TMW, President; Roy Thompson, N1HUG, VP; Doug, KB1SS, Secretary; Ray, WD1X, Treasurer; Tony Vena, K1BUI, Comm. Officer.

The Big tower was installed in February - courtesy of Bob Blakley; Ken Hallstrom, W1FMU; Ray, WD1X; Al, K1TMW; Roy Thompson, N1HUG and others.

The estate of Fred Flynn, K1GGG donated the AM station.

Al was also appointed Comm. Officer in October and remained Trustee.

The Club worked Field Day and the December 10 meter contests.

Al, K1TMW, President; Roy, N1HUG, VP; May WA1EHK, Secretary; Ray, WD1X, Treasurer and Al again as Comm. Officer and Trustee.

Field Day activities were held in Roosevelt Forest.

In September, Al attended a "Skywarn" conference in Fairfield.

Al, K1TMW, President; Elly Watson, K1OAN, VP; May WA1EHK, Secretary; Ray, WD1X, Treasurer; Al again as Comm. Officer. and Trustee

At this time I have no data as to which contests the Club participated in. There was a note in the December 11th meeting minutes that Bob, N1KPR would be visiting the club to give a telegraph key show (my first visit; ed.).

Tom Wilson, WV1C, President; Adam Hosa, AA1HY (prev. KA1ZKI), VP; May, WA1EHK, Secretary; Bob Botsford, WW1S, Treasurer; Al, K1TMW Comm. Officer and Trustee.

Field Day was a "HOT" one. We worked with seven transmitters. Other events were the traditional VHF and UHF contests.

Please bear in mind that this is the first printing of a first edition. There are bound to be some"'typos" as-well-as skewed or erroneous data. Any additional information; corrections, deletions, additions or changes should be directed to the editor.

Bob, N1KPR - January 1996
