We can not forget our better half. Female amateur radio operators have, and are continuing to contribute to this wonderful hobby. Many are involved in net operations, message handling, QSL bureau volunteering, to name just a few of their activities. You can find YLs just about everywhere - from CW operation right up to chasing the DX, counties and IOTA, in the pile-ups. Watch out guys - there are a lot of excellent YL contesters out there to give you plenty of competition! This page will list as much information as possible on YL activities. If you have any additional information that you would like to see listed here, let me know and I will add it.
OM - Old Man.
Like using buddy or pal. (If you're married, can you be an XOM?).
XYL - Ex-Young Lady.
Refers to a ham's wife, or, if she
hears him use this term, widow.
It's a mystery why being married makes
her an ex young lady.
