Hello friends,
Since some months we have not sending the WLOTA Newsletter and please
excuse us for this little problem.
Phil - F5OGG had a big problem with a car accident of his daughter. It
was the first reason. All is not finish but we have always answered at
all messages with a too big delay. We think that you will answer this
situation.
Phil - F5OGG say thanks to OMs has sending good message during this long
difficult time. What you can do now for the WLOTA: Many WLOTA expeditions
and send the WLOTA number on the air!

How to be WLOTA member:
To be WLOTA member, you must send 10 Euros to WLOTA. With the WLOTA
member card, you can request any number of WLOTA diplomas. The Diploma's
are free for WLOTA member. Your membership will be ok from date to date
for one year (not January to January).

Explanation about WLOTA Rule:
WLOTA number on QSL or not:
A little number of OM and SWL do understand that the number will be on QSL:
Between 01 July 1997 to 31 December 2004: The number is not necessary to
be on QSL or on SO label but all WLOTA expeditions need the validation. If
no validation we do not accept the qsl for the diplomas.
Since 01 January 2005: The WLOTA number must to be printed on QSL or on
QSO label. We do not accept the name of the island (because all checkpoints
cannot verify the good number with the name of island and many lighthouses
have their personal name (not name of island). Also you must validate your
expedition if necessary (see in the list on web site the word "Yes").

Official WLOTA Checkpoints and Zone:
For the moment we work with some checkpoints about the possibility to
validate expedition. You will informed for each checkpoint when they
will be already for validate. At this time only F5MCC - Claude can
validate WLOTA expeditions.

WLOTA Checkpoints:
We inform that WLOTA has now a WLOTA Checkpoint for Asia except countries
in Russia:
- Jos' VU2JOS.
We inform that WLOTA has now a WLOTA Checkpoint for North America:
- Dave VA3RJ.
We inform that WLOTA has now a WLOTA Checkpoint for South America:
- Orlando PY2TJ (also PT2OP).

Official WLOTA Checkpoints and Zone:
WLOTA Need a Checkpoint for: Russia Zone (Europe and Asia) and for Africa.

Checkpoint can validate Expedition:
For Europe: Periklis SV8DTD can now validate all WLOTA expeditions in Europe.
For World: Claude F5MCC can validate WLOTA Expedition.

WLOTA Merits Award:
You have made a WLOTA expedition during the year 2008. It is not too late
if you want participate and receive a Wlota Merit Award for:
   - Beautiful QSL in each continent: send your Qsl (back and front)
   - Difficult WLOTA Expedition: Send all documents, pictures, films
     concerning, the situation of the lighthouse, difficulties of
     preparation of the expedition, access and installation.
   - Service rendered to WLOTA: Send to WLOTA HQ the call sign of OM
     or YL has an action in favor of the WLOTA during the year. Explain in
     a little text why this call sign can receive this WLOTA merit award.

WLOTA Trophies:
Trophy Best Expedition: See the page "Trophy Best Expedition" on WLOTA
web site. You have the criteria of WLOTA HQ for receive this prestigious
trophy. (A trophy in each continent and a WORLD Trophy)
