Computers and Software
Or as Dave, VE3HKO, calls them... "Confusers." Ain't that the bloody truth??
- AVG Anti-Virus FREE Edition. Yes, it's still free. You have a choice during the install process of the "Basic protection," (free), or the more comprehensive "Professional Edition," which will be free for only thirty days. Just choose the "Basic" protection, if you don't want to buy it. It won't expire.
- Trend Micro anti-malware sofware. Best of the "paid" stuff, IMO.
- Panda Anti-Virus Not bad, but a bit of a hog on resources. Have plenty of RAM for this one.
- McAfee. Norton's arch rival for many decades. Too bad they both suck! :)
- The Scoreboards Sports Forums - Computer and Technology section Also a great place to talk sports of all kinds.
- 7-Zip Forget about Winzip, or WinRAR. Need to work with ZIP or RAR files? 7-Zip is all you need! And... it's FREE!
- Mailwasher Pro by Firetrust. NOT free, but only $39.95 U.S. Allows you to preview your email, and "bounce" back any spam. Spammers get an authentic "no such mailbox" message back, directly from your mail server! To them, your address doesn't exist. To you... no more deleting spam. Only the mail you WANT comes through.
- Audacity. FREE audio recorder / manipulator. You may have an Icom 7000, with built-in recording capabilities, but it's limited in length of time. Audacity is not... and... I can export the recording directly to an MP3, for use on a website, if needed.
- L.A.M.E. FREE add-on for Audacity (or any other sound recorder) to make MP3 files.
