PNWVHFS Officer and Director Nomination Results

Nominations for officers and directors closed at midnight on
September 5. Below is the result of the nomination process.

Three incumbents agreed to stand for re-election and were
automatically nominated:
- Eastern Washington Director Bob Lee (N7AU),
- President Lynn Burlingame (N7CFO) and
- Secretary-Treasurer Jim Aguirre (W7DHC).

Kevin Imel (KF7CN) was nominated by a member-at-large for the
newly created Vice President position and Gabor Horvath (VE7DXG) was nominated by a member from the BC Section for the British Columbia Director position.

Since each position up for election this year had only one nominee,
the Society's policy regarding unopposed candidates applies and,
accordingly, the candidates listed above are therefore declared
elected without the need for further balloting.

The newly-elected or re-elected officers and directors will begin
their terms on November 1, 2005. Elected or re-elected directors
will serve two-year terms through October 31, 2007, and the
elected/re-elected officers will serve one-year terms through October 31, 2006. The referenced policy regarding the election of unopposed
candidates is available for reference on the PNWVHFS web site following the constitution and bylaws.

The entire list of PNWVHFS officers and directors for the 2005-2006
term are:

President: Lynn Burlingame (N7CFO)*
Vice President: Kevin Imel (KF7CN)*
Secretary-Treasurer: Jim Aguirre (W7DHC)*
Director, British Columbia: Gabor Horvath (VE7DXG)
Director, Eastern Washington: Bob Lee (N7AU)
Director, Idaho: Bob Hallock (K7TM)*
Director, Oregon: Jim Garver (K7YO)*
Director, Western Washington: Eric Olson (N7EPD)*

They will also be listed on the PNWVHFS web site as of November 1,
2005.

* denotes term ends October 31, 2006

Respectfully submitted,

Jim Aguirre
Secretary-Treasurer

MUD 2003 + PNWVHFS Fall Meeting = Great Event!

(Report from W7DHC)

The combined Pacific Northwest VHF Conference and Microwave Update 2003 event attracted some 120 participants from all over the US plus Australia, England, Canada and Japan. On both Friday and Saturday, a number of presentations were made, mostly on fairly technical microwave subjects. Of broader interest was the presentation by Ward Silver, N0AX, on the future of VHF, UHF and Microwave contesting. He is a member of the ARRL committee evaluating the contest survey conducted a while back and considering recommendations for VHF and above contest enhancements and changes.

Highlighting the PNWVHFS Annual Meeting on Friday evening was the presentation of the Pacific Northwest VHFer of the Year award to Lynn Burlingame for his efforts to promote and grow the society. It was noted that Lynn attends most of the hamfests in the region and always finds ways to promote society membership at each one. He is also the "father of the T-shirt" promotion.

Commercial vendors were in attendance at the conference on all three days and business was brisk for them. In addition, there were swap events on both Friday evening and Sunday morning, offering other opportunities to stock up on radio gear and accessories.

At the Saturday evening banquet, the food was great and the subsequent prize drawing featured some really good stuff, much of which stayed in the Pacific Northwest. Quite a number of PNWVHFS members managed to have winning tickets pulled.

We’re already looking toward the 2004 Pacific Northwest VHF Conference with great anticipation!

PNWVHFS Nomination Results

Secretary W7DHC reports that no additional nominations were received for any of the four offices to be filled by election this year. As a result, the incumbent officers below, who indicated their willingness to run again, are elected without further balloting per the Pacific Northwest VHF Society constitution and bylaws.

President: Lynn Burlingame, N7CFO
Secretary-Treasurer: Jim Aguirre, W7DHC
Director, British Columbia: Ralph Parker, VE7XF
Director, Eastern Washington: Bob Lee, N7AU

The terms of the President and Secretary-Treasurer will run through
December 31, 2004; the director terms are for two year, running through
December 31, 2005.

Congratulations and thanks for all the hard work gentlemen!
