Rockwork 4 DXpedition 2017

Rockwork 4 after DX Aug 7, 2017
A drone's eye view of the Rockwork 4 pullout post-DX on Aug 06, 2017. Six mornings at the cliff this time, with the best conditions ever encountered there, especially on Aug 04.

The weather other than Aug 02 was foggy, misty, smoky (from the BC wildfires) or cloudy. The weather was not as nice as July but the DX was amazingly better. 113 DUs on MW!

View from the drone Aug 06          Chuck's and my wires Aug 02         K7WV Setup on Aug 06

Six sessions at the cliff this time although I was only able to operate during five due to equipment problems. The lackluster Aug 02 session was not a great loss. Record hauls overall of both MW stations and LW NDBs. (Click pics for enlargement).

Mallacoota and Corny Point, AUS are decoded here for the first time from North America. Unusual NSW-centered DX favored more southerly AUS stations than is typical on both LW and MW.

MW results compiled and are posted above............#1 target "More FM" Alexandra, NZ 531Khz captured on Aug 04 at 1259!   MoreFM
"More FM" ID heard again on Aug 06 at 1242 with quick "More FM" announcement by woman between contemporary songs.

No question about 6DL 531, broadcasting the post game comments and replays from the AFL Sydney Swans vs Geelong Cats match on Aug 04 and // 594 3WV.  ABC has exclusive rights to the AFL (Can't be 2PM "Super Network") [BTW, Sydney defeated the Cats 107-61].
Same certainty with 6WA 558 with a parallel on 594 as well, broadcasting "Saturday Night Country" on Aug 05. That's two from Western Australia.

This is my best MWDX log ever from the ocean cliff. Highlights: I have solid IDs from 7BU 558 and 2WEB 585, solid parallel on 594 (3WV) for 6DL 531 with an AFL post-game wrapup show (ABC L/R),  Two "More FM" 531 IDs on two different days, Seven 1-KW Kiwis6WA 558 Wagin (ABC LR), Fiji 1 585 amazingly loud, 2NM 981 with ID, 4MK 1026 with ID, Chinese Voice 936, 4 Tasmanians including 7FG 1161 (1KW) and 16 Hawaiians with IDs. 72 NZ stations and 41 AUS total, a new cliffside record for me by a wide margin. That's 113 DU's! The ratio of NZ to AUS stations for this DXpedition is 7 to 4, showing the impressive NZ targeted enhancement that Rockwork 4 provides.
The Australian DX was unusual in that the propagation was not QLD-centered, with many more NSW stations heard and a record 4 TAS. The usual QLD semi-regulars were weak or absent while 7BU, 2NM, 2AD, 2HD and other 2-5kw stations to the south prevailed.

KHMB 1710 using five synchronized "Part 15" unlicensed 100 mw transmitters was heard better than ever during this DXpedition, with solid IDs. At 578.5 miles distant, this represents 1157 miles per watt (There ought to be a "1000 Mile-Per-Watt" reception certificate as in Ham Radio!)

Congrats to DXpedition partner Gary DeBock who now holds the Ultralight World Record for distance received from a 10 KW station thanks to his Aug 4 reception of 6DL 531 at the cliff!
Gary should also hold the 2KW record as well for 7BU 558 from Tasmania, received during this DXpedition.
