HOW TO INSTALL FLEXNET

At first, just a word about FLEXNET; it's a software (better it's more than one) that we can use to "interface" various hardware (TNC,Sound Blaster,Modem Baycom ecc.) to various terminal program (tsthost,tsthwin,winpack ecc.);
it runs both under DOS that under Windows (at start up it automatically know operative system and adapt itself);
On flexnet home page you'll find a lot of file (module to use flexnet with various software and hardware).
let's see the 2 installation for modem baycom (under DOS and WINDOWS).

DOS INSTALLATION

• Software needed:
  FLEXNET (PCF.LZH);
  SER12 (SER12.LZH);
  TFEMU (TFEMULATOR.LZH) (DOWNLOAD PAGE OF FLEXNET);

• Unzip all Flexnet file in a directory such as FLEX95;

• Use the following batch file (1200 Baud):
  cd\flex95
  lh flexnet 20
  ser12 1
  flex
  fset mode 0 1200
  fset txd 0 30
  lh tfemu
  
  1 (directory where is FLEXNET);
  2 (load FLENET with 20 KB);
  3 (load Baycom modem's driver on COM1);
  4 (load the kernel);
  5 (set channel 0 at 1200 Baud);
  6 (set TXDelay of channel 0 at 30 ms);
  7 (load the Hostmode emulator);
  

All done, of course, under DOS.

Let's see now what terminal software to use:

• FLEXNET + TSTHOST + modem Baycom + DOS;

WINDOWS INSTALLATION

At first you must know hat flexnet is not a 100% windows software (soon will came a 100% version), infact you need to load it before windows start (with a batch file) and you need to deactive com port in windows control panel.

• Software needed:
  FLEXNET (PCF.LZH, FLEX95.LZH);
  SER12 (SER12.LZH);
  HOSTMODE EMULATOR (TFEMULATOR.LZH);(PAGINA DOWNLOAD FLEXNET);
• Unzip all Flexnet file in a directory such as FLEX95;
• Deactive COM port where is the modem connected in the following way:
  START > SETTING > CONTROL PANEL >
  SISTEM > PERIFERICAL >
  COMUNICATION PORT (COMxx) >
  DEACTIVE IN THIS HARDWARE PROFILE;
  (Will be better create a new CONFIGURATION and deactive the COM only in this one).
• Use a batch file like that used under DOS (1200 Baud) (remember to load the driver before to load WINDOWS, adding some lines in your autoexec.bat):
  cd\flex95
  lh flexnet 20
  ser12 1
  flex
  fset mode 0 1200
  fset txd 0 30
  lh tfemu
• Reset the PC.

Now we can run one of the following teminal program:

• FLEXNET + TSTHWIN + modem Baycom + WINDOWS;

• FLEXNET + WINPACK + modem Baycom + WINDOWS;

• FLEXNET + WINHN + modem Baycom + WINDOWS;
  

NOTE:

1. I didn't deactive my COM Port and all works fine;
2. Using a modem with external power supply there are no problem at all, but using a modem which gets voltage directly from Serial Port, you can have some problem running under windows (some program changes serial port's pin status time to time).
3. With FLEXNET you can not run more than one application (with AGWPE you cn run more).
