Anybody wishing to be a radio amateur has to gain a licence in order to transmit. Currently there are three stages in the UK licence: Foundation, Intermediate and Advanced: a pass in any of these stages will give you permission to apply for a licence to transmit.

Entry level is at Foundation and to gain a higher licence with more privileges you need to work your way through the exams, passing the Foundation to be able to do the Intermediate and passing both of those to sit the Advanced.

At the QRZ Amateur Radio Group of Sussex we teach all three stages and we are also a registered satellite examination centre so can hold exams on our premises.

We teach the Foundation and Intermediate exams virtually on a demand basis with tuition varying between small groups and individual lessons.
Due to the recent re-designing of the old Full Radio Amateurs Exam into the current Advanced scheme, we will be arranging a group course for people to study for the higher level in time for the next exam.

Please contact us if you have any questions about the licensing structure or wish to enrol on a course. Our details are on the contact us page.

“We believe in offering you a course when you want it - not in three months time”
