The Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES) is an organization consisting of FCC licensed Amateur Radio Operators who are ready and willing to use their communications skills and their equipment to aid their communities in times of disaster, or to assist in public service at planned events.

In Lucas County, Ohio, ARES has a close working relationship with the County Office of Emergency Management and the local hospitals. We hold drills and training nets to sharpen our communications skills and also manage an infrastructure of repeaters and amateur radio stations to provide the citizens of Lucas County with an emergency communications capability. We also render assistance to public safety agencies at large-scale public events when requested.

Lucas County ARES Meets each month (on the 4th Saturday) at 9:00am - 2127 Jefferson Ave., Toledo.
