This is where to be for the last phase of the Spring 2018 project. Please read everything.

Objective - two HF antennas built from scratch for Field Day purposes. As usual, DATES and TIMES will be posted at THE TOP of this page when anything new is established...
Calling all project signatories - or participants anyway. Our last meeting gathered the remaining informations we needed to plan the build day for our Spring 2018 Project. Just like last year, we will attempt to find a day and time that is suitable for everyone to make it. We know of course from experience that it may not be possible for everyone. But the day has to be set and that's my fortunate part at this point. So PLEASE everyone respond to the Yahoo Group discussion on when and how you can be available etc [just join the group if you haven't already / need help ask Matthew or Lloyd (him) cuz he created it - ty Lloyd]...

Here's a quick link to the BSARC Yahoo Group. You can also find it on the bottom of the BSARC homepage.

* What we need and have: Parts, people, etc ~

I personally attribute the first best destiny of any project success as availability of materials. I have worked on more than I can think of and even when a group or team didn't even have a plan, as long as they had resources the mission was accomplished. Perfect plans on the other hand, lacking the necessary tools and supplies were doomed at the first step.

With that idea in notion, despite who may not be able to make it on build day, we have to collectively ensure that everyone contributing tools and/or supplies have already made certain they (said supplies) will be at the clubhouse. So if you are responsible for Cokes but won't be able to attend once we have the date set - MAKE sure that you have left them up there sometime earlier for the group.

* Okay - here's the breakdown:

Leland Pechacek has opted to get the wire we need for the balum
and 40 meter rig. We need 66 feet for the antenna dipoles themselves,
and whatever else in addition to construct the balum. See Balum construction
videos at the bottom of this inform.
J.L. Stevens recommneded 14 ga wire from what I recall. And has given
us the driving guidance on what to pursue so far.
Matthew Grayson has donated two 8' aluminum pipes for the 20 meter rig
to serve as the elements - partially...
Daren Bishop is looking into materials for extending these pipes to length
for tuning purposes.
Lloyd Duck will be getting us the necessary PVC parts to create a frame
for the 20 meter rig. Click HERE to take a look at what we have opted to
approximate.
EVERYONE Look UP and click that link in Lloyd's lineitem. We need to have a
collective good-long-look at the design we are building.
Thomas Tafuro has two heavy duty tripods designed to hold mast antennas
that can be used to stretch out the 40 meter antenna dipoles to length.
Pepper Sullivan has solved unified field theory. Hmm - dang it. I know
he is in on this and said domething but I'm drawing a blank right now.
Help please.
And I think that is all the people we have participating this year. And that was expected to some degree for the nature of the build. So if anyone has any ideas to get more club members to come out for build day - I'm all ears.

* Things that we are missing -

* Feedline - I got a quote from basin 2 way.... but Lloyd had another idea?
* PL connectors - good ones - Also in the quote I had from basin...
* Soldering Iron - I have that covered...
* Power tools - I can swing that too.
* Antenna Analyzer!! ~ We absolutely have to have one of these.
* HF rig that can transmit on both antennas and actually TEST THEM before we
  call the project success.
* FOOD

*Anthing else?

Alright people - now that you have COMPLETELY digested all this - yes you did... Let's meet up on the BSARC Yahoo Group and hammer out the details until we have a date set! See yall there.

* Balum Constrction for the 40 meter rig

The following is an instructional series for constructing a 1:1 balum for an HF antenna. If this is not applicapable (I've got the wrong material) please let me know and we can replace it with something appropriate. But I figured everyone on the build team needed to know these steps.
