        VMARC met March 1 at 7 P.M. in Club Room 203 at Rivermont School.
    Treasurer Report [was given].

  • Report on School Club Roundup held at AHS given by Josh, KF4YLM.
  • Report by Hans, VE2HX, on Venture Group and it is short by one person.
  • Discussed the Boy Scouts Camporee at Lexington April 30 to May 1, we were asked to help out the Lexington Radio Club with communications for 1,200 Scouts.
  • Motion made and passed to do March of Dimes Walk America on April 18.
  • Club officers elected were: President, Fred AD4HG; Vice President, John KC4JWG; Secretary, Gene KC4ZTE; Treasurer, Erskine KE4UUH; Public Information Officer, Dwight KE4DZY.
  • Discussed having Ladies Auxiliaries of First Aid and Fire Departments to be the licensed hams at each department since Fire and First Aid squads' members' time is taken up with their own training classes.
  • Motion made and passed to have sub-committee on the task of classes for the Venture Crew; members are John KC4JWG, Fred N4IF, Hans VE2HX, Josh KF4YLM.
  • Web Page - John and Josh are working on it.
  • Motion made and passed to set dues at $8.00 per person per year. Thus concludes the Meeting Minutes for March, 1999.


          On April 12, 1999 at 19:00 EDT, the MARES met on 146.550 MHz and discussed the following:

  • The Dist. 13 ARES meeting in Roanoke where the turnout was good and the topics included the Field Day, the ARES Family Picnic, and the ARES Conference at VA Tech.
  • SKYWARN Classes to be held at the Jackson River Technical Center at 19:00 EDT.  All are welcome to this very interesting class.
  • The BoyScout Camporee took precedence in the meeting and several important issues were disscussed.  Click above to check out the details.
