Reserved for individuals who have demonstrated outstanding dedication to humanitarian service, the Melvin Jones Award is a Lion's highest honour.
The "Melvin Jones Fellowship Award" is presented to the Lion who has been a leading contributor to the success of the club. The club donates one thousand dollars in the name of the recipient. The Lion is presented with a pin and plaque from the Lion Clubs International. Their names are added to the plaque at the Lions Club International Headquarters.
The donation is presented to the Lions Club International Foundation. The LCIF is the charitable branch of the Lions Clubs International.
The foundation distributes funds in the form of grants for humanitarian services, disaster relief and vocational assistance. LCIF also helps oversee the funding and progress of projects established through the Lions primary program Sightfirst.
