2004

VC3W operated for the 175th anniversary of the first Welland Canal in Ontario.  view card

Prince Albert, Saskatchewan celebrated it's 100th birthday with Special station CG5EEE.  view certificate

Special call sign VC3HCR was heard operating for the 50th anniversary of the Halton County Radial Railway. view card  view certificate

VC3E was operated by VE3AT to to celebrate the 125th Anniversary of the first demonstrations of electric lighting in major Canadian cities. view card

VB5C was a special call to commemorate the 75th Canadian Men's Curling Championship in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in March 2004. view card

The Muskoka Power and Steam Show was commemorated with Special Event Station VC3MZY. view card front  view card back

The special event call sign VC9COAL was authorized for use during December 2004 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the naming of Minto, New Brunswick.  more info >>>

2003

The 25th annual Canal Days in Port Colborne, Ontario were commemorated with Special Event Station VC3XXV. view card front  view card back 

CG5RI commemorating the centennial of Lloydminster, Saskatchewan was worked during the Canada Day Contest.  view card front   view card back  

The 50th anniversary of the District of Kitimat, British Columbia was commemorated with a special call. VC7K was used for a DXpedition to Barnard Island in June. view card front & post card  view card back 

The Winnipeg Senior Citizens Amateur Radio Club operated XM4WSC from a pair of lighthouses and commemorated the club's 20th anniversary.  view card 

VE5SL used the special XM prefix to commemorate 100 years of military communications in Canada. view card   VC3MCC was another special event station to commemorate this event. view card  view certificate

The special prefix VC3 was used by VE3AT to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the National Research Council Instiitute for Biological Sciences. view card front  view card back 

 

The callsign VB2C was issued to commemorate the first voyage of Samuel de Champlain to Canada, it was used by DXpedition group Team Zone 2 in northern Quebec. view card front   view card back

2002

The 100th anniversary of Guy Lombardo's birth was celebrated in his hometown of London, Ontario with special event station VA3GLM. view card front  view card back

Mackenzie, British Columbia hosted the The International Open Junior Karatedo Championships and VE7K operated for the event.  view certificate

2001

Special call VB3RC was issued to commemorate the 175th anniversary of the Rideau Canal.  view certificate 

The Nanaimo Amateur Radio Association operates VE7TUB during the annual Bath Tub Races in British Columbia.  view certificate

The longest covered bridge in the World, located in Hartland, New Brunswick was 100 years old and commemorated with special call VC9H.  view card front  view card back

On December 12, 1901 Guglielmo Marconi received the first radio signal transmitted across the Atlantic Ocean. The Centennial of this accomplishment was commemorated  by amateur radio operators and broadcasters around the World. visit Marconi page

The Peace County Amateur Radio Club celebrated it's 20th anniversary in 1999 with station CI6CI.  view certificate

The Amateur Radio Club of Newfoundland operated VO1GAM from the North Atlantic Aviation Museum. view card

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police celebrated the 125th anniversary of the RCMP March West.  view card

The Pan American Games were held in Winnepeg, Manitoba and VX4PAG was put on the air for the event. view card


1998

Thge Royal Canadian Mounted Police celebrated it's 125th year in 1998. VX7ACF was heard during the Canada day Contest.  view card  The anniversary was also marked by Radio Canada International with a QSL card for reports on it's broadcasts.  view card

The Fredericton Amateur Radio Club operated CF9ND to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Fredericton, New Brunswick.  view card 

 In 1998 the centennial of ferry service between North Sydney, Nova Scotia and Port Aux Basque, Newfoundland was celebrated. CZ1SSB was a special call to commemorate the SS Bruce, the first ship to provide ferry service. view card   During the anniversary crossing on June 30-July 1, 1998, the call CG1MA was operated maritime mobile from aboard the present day ferry the MV Caribou.  view card front  view card back

Kincardine, Ontario celebrated it's sesquicentennial in 1998 with special station XK3K.  view card

The Thornhill Radio Amateurs' Club operated VC3D during the Canada Day celebrations in Vaughan, Ontario.  view card

VO1TAC was heard operating from the landing site of the first transatlantic cable in Hearts Content, Newfoundland.  view card

During August, the Polar Bear Dxpedition took place using four callsigns from different locations. CH6RCH was heard commemorating 100 years of the Patriarchial Parishes of the Russian Othodox Church in Canada.  view card

The 500th anniversary of the voyage of John Cabot was commemorated with a special event station, VO500JC, from the Society of Newfoundland Radio Amateurs. view card front  view card back


1993

The 50th anniversary of the HMCS Haida was celebrated with the use of the special prefic CF3.  view card 

A husband and wife team operated with special prefixes to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Lamont United Church in Alberta. view card 

VF1L was used to commemorate the final seige at the Fortress of Louisbuourg in Nova Scotia.  view card


1992

CI2M was on the air from Montreal for their 350th birthday.  view card

CJ6CEXS operated during the Calgary Stampede to commemorate Canada's 125th birthday.  view card

XJ7V was used to commemorate the 100th birthday of Vernon, British Columbia.  view card 

VE1RCAF celebrated 50 years of CFB Greenwood, Nova Scotia.  view card

The Guelph Amateur Radio Club operated VG3W from the birthplace of Col John McCrae, the author of the famous poem In Flanders Fields. view card front  view card back 

Special Event Station XO5SSC was operated by the Port Aux Basques Amateur Radio Club in Newfoundland to commemorate the sinking of the SS Caribou in 1942. view certificate 


1991

The year 1991 was the 100th anniversary of ther first Ukrainians arriving in Canada. This was marked with a special callsign, VA100U. view card front  view card back 

It was also the 100th anniversary of the death of Canada's first Prime Minister, John A Macdonald. A special event station  operated from his home town in Kingston, Ontario with the call VA3SJAM.  view card front  view card back

1990

The special call CF25A was used by VE3XN to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Canadian flag in 1990. view card   


1987

The year 1987 was the sesquicentennial of the towns of Picton and Coburg, Ontario.
