History of The Rappahannock Amateur Radio Association
Provided by Carl Wigginton N4CGW
The
Rappahannock Amateur Radio Association was
founded in 1976 by amateurs in Kilmarnock, Virginia. The club
grew to approximately 60 members by 1990, then entered a period of
decline. By 2000, the club had become inactive. In
March, 2005, following a chance QSO followed by an eyeball QSO, three
local amateurs - unaware of the existence of the RARA club - decided to
start a local club. This effort rediscovered the older club,
generated a revival, and led to the club as we know it today.
