My name is Josef Červený

I live in Úpice, not too good place for broadcasting in the river Úpa valley. I have been trying to overcome this handicap since  1.12.1985. Stepwise I achieved level C and then aslo B. My equipment - ICOM706, ALLAMAT 88, KENWOOD TS-850 SAT, from the amateur - KENTAUR and other home-made stuff. Considering the antenna - since there is no possibility to build up proper antennas I only have to put up with W3DZZ and a Yagi antenna 144MHz.

My job - TV sets repairs  and spare parts renovation takes most of my time. I also repair control boards for the gas boilers - see a little illustration HERE.

Here is a little about history of Úpice:

Úpice was founded in the 11th century on the trade path az a station at the ford across the Úpa river. So the river contributed to foudation of the town giving it its name. Úpa is a Lithuanian word

which means water. In the old times there was an extention of the provincial Trutnov trade path from Kyje (nowadays Hajnice) to Radeč across Úpice to Strážkovice, Stárkov, Police and Broumov. The original village was small. One part occupied the right bank of the river and the other was scattered along the Radečka stream. Soon there was built a church with a cemetery around. The church was wooden as well as all other houses in the village.
